Thanksgiving with the Hemmings

This year was our year to spend Thanksgiving with Josh's family and this year we tried something new.Instead of us driving eight hours to Tacoma Josh's whole family met us halfway between here and there. Which in case you are wondering is about Pendleton Oregon. Now you wouldn't think that a small town like Pendleton had much to offer, but surprisingly we had a GREAT time! We left on Thanksgiving morning and drove to Pendleton. We all met at the hotel and Josh and I arrived before everyone else so we set our room up to make a nice little eating area. When everyone arrived we dished up our thanksgiving dinner that Josh' mom had made before hand and put it in the microwave and it was good! It was fun to sit and visit together even if we were in close proximity. The next morning we took the kids to have breakfast with Santa which was put on by Parks and Rec.. For 3.50 you got to make a craft, get your face painted, get a professional picture with Santa, which is sent to your home when developed, and get a pancake breakfast. It was a great deal and a lot of fun! After breakfast we took the kids swimming at the towns athletic club for free, it was complimentary from the hotel we were staying. We all went back to the hotel for lunch and a nap after this. Later that evening we went bowling. It was really fun! Everybody did really well!Well almost everybody, I won't mention any names. :) After this we all went to dinner at a really good pizza place called Abbies, the pizza was SOO Yummy!
Then it was back to the hotel for a little more R&R together. The next morning we had pancake breakfast in our room and then went to the Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon. It was in a old shop in downtown Pendleton. It was so cool! They had a room made into a little Chinese restaurant equipped with real tables, menus, kitchen and decorations. We all had fun playing restaurant and the kids had fun doing the jobs. They also had a construction room, a little grocery store, firehouse, old west, one with real small animals, and one made just for babies which was great for Stellar! It was a great place with a great price, only two dollars a person!
We had a great weekend, it was a lot of fun and we are so grateful for Josh's parents for making it possible for us to go. We love all of the family and can't wait to see them soon.

I love those types of museums. I think that they can be just as fun for adults. Takes me back to the childhood days. You scored on all of the free to super cheap, but fun entertainment. Way to go!
