So I have realized how literal two and a half year olds think and understand as of recently. It all started about a month and a half ago when Rainy asked my uncle why his dog was laying down in the back of his car. He said he had"worked her tail off" while they were out hunting that morning and that she was tired. When Rainy heard this she instantly got a look on face of complete horror. She replied" You cut her tail off?!"She was completely confused. It took awhile for Grandma and I to explain to her what he meant and that Uncle Randy was not the type to hurt his dog.
Then the other night my Dad was laying on the couch and I got up to get him a drink and something else that he asked for. My mom saw me doing this and asked him"Who cut your legs off?" Rainy heard this and got that same look of horror on her face. She had to make sure Grandpa's legs were still attached and we had to explain again what Grandma really meant.
And then this afternoon while Rainy and I were playing I told her I had a Abby Cadabby song stuck in my head and she looked at my head and said"It's stuck?" and again I had to explain what I meant. SO now I think I am going to think about who I am talking to and what I say before I say it so I don't mortify Rainy.I just thought this was really funny and had to share.

Those are hilarious! I got those kinds of reactions from Koreans when I'd use American idioms. They took things very literally too.
